Without a Trace is a procedural drama in the same genre as CSI, and by the same executive producer, Jerry Bruckheimer. But the focus here is on the Missing Persons Unit in the New York City office of the FBI. The unit uses good old fashioned investigative work, as well as psychological profiling techniques, computer tracers and more to uncover the victims' lives and trace their whereabouts be they abducted, murdered, a victim of suicide, or simply run away. Senior Agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team that includes Samantha Spade (Poppy Montgomery), who has a past with Malone and an issue with men in general; Vivian Johnson (Marianne Jean-Baptiste), a former Bronx detective; Danny Taylor (Enrique Murciano), a street kid who turned his life around; and Martin Fitzgerald (Eric Close), the newest member of the team, who left the Seattle White-collar Crime Unit to join the team, and whose father is the Assistant Director of the Bureau.
